It's unclear how many gamers are affected at the moment

The development team at EA Sports in charge of FIFA 14 announces that at the moment the game is experiencing some connectivity-related issues on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 home consoles, and that the studio is currently investigating their origin in order to solve them and restore normal functionality.

The official Twitter message from the company does not specify how long it might take to eliminate the problem or how much of the install base of the football sim is affected at the moment.

FIFA 14 has had connectivity problems in the past, and the team at EA Sports has traditionally been able to solve them in a few hours.

Gamers are currently unable to connect to their friends or rivals neither for traditional matches, nor using club teams of the national sides included in the 2014 Brazil World Cup update, and they cannot join any Ultimate Team action.

FIFA 14 continues to sell well and EA Sports needs to keep the community satisfied by eliminating any issues associated with the game.

A new title in the series is set to be launched in late September and will include updated graphics and mechanics, with smarter players, more ball physics, and improvements to the Ultimate Team mode.

UPDATE: A full maintenance period was launched on all platforms at the moment.

UPDATE 2: The maintenance is done and EA Sports claims that an Ultimate Team related issue has been fixed.
