The development team at EA Sports announces that it is taking down the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 versions of FIFA 14 this morning in order to deliver some much-needed maintenance for the football simulation.

Gamers who are looking to play will be unable to do so starting at 9 AM Greenwich Mean Time and the company claims that the downtime will be no longer than 1 hour, with extra info set to be offered if an extension is required.

EA Sports offered the information on Twitter and the response from fans who were looking to play FIFA 14 has been rather negative.

The studio is not saying what elements of the game or the infrastructure associated with it will be upgraded or if any of the problems that the community has reported will be solved.

The football simulation series has become very important to Electronic Arts as a revenue source in the last few years, especially since the Ultimate Team mode was added.

FIFA 15 will be launched at some point in September of this year, with more information expected in the coming months, and the development team has promised that it will improve some of the core features but will not make any radical changes to the core gameplay.
