Developer Inplay Interactive and publisher Aeria Games announce that they are working on FEAR Online, a new installment in the first-person shooter franchise that will use free-to-play mechanics and will continue the story of Alma Wade and her mysterious powers.

The game will focus on a number of modes based on teams and which will take place on ten maps of known locations from the series.

Players can become an Armacham Technology Corporation mercenary and an elite FEAR team member.

The teams are also planning to include cooperative scenarios for up to four players that will expand the narrative of the FEAR franchise and the backstory of Alma.

Tom Nichols, a vice president at Aeria Games, states, “F.E.A.R. Online will bring back the tense, heart-pounding action that the series is known for and make it accessible to a huge online community of competitive players.”

FEAR Online does not currently have a launch date.
