It's unclear whether the MMO is being ported to the PlayStation 4

The development team at Sony Online Entertainment says that it is interested in the Project Morpheus virtual reality prototype that the Sony hardware division has created, which might mean that support for it will be added in the future in EverQuest Next.

David Georgeson, the development director working on the MMO, explains to IGN that, “I mean, VR and AR are things that I personally am extremely excited about. I honestly think that’s the future of gaming. But we have a lot of miles to go before we sleep. So we need to build the game, and then we can talk about virtual reality and stuff beyond that.”

The only problem with the link between the coming EverQuest title and Project Morpheus is that the VR headset is only set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 and the MMO will only be launched on the PC.

A number of SOE titles are set to get versions for the PS4 in the future and the company is probably exploring the same opportunity for EverQuest Next.

Project Morpheus is just a prototype and Sony has said that the device will see a number of changes before it is officially launched to customers, with a price point that should be below 250 dollars or Euro.
