The development team at Sony Online Entertainment are launching a new developer diary for their upcoming EverQuest Next and its Landmark companion, focused on how gamers will be able to use a variety of materials to create their own buildings.

Those who sign up for the MMO will start off the experience with a copper pick, which can only be used to mine a number of tier one materials, including tin and iron, which can then be transformed into better tools.

There are five overall tiers for the materials and six tools that can be used to mine them out.

Everything a player obtains or trades for can be used to create his own items and buildings.

Sony Online Entertainment says that one of the tools will be a bucket that can be used to move lava around.

EverQuest Next and its Landmark companion will probably be launched in 2014.
