European Hearthstone players were affected by massive lag last week, and sometimes the servers were completely unavailable for hours at a time.

In order to make up for this inconvenience, developer Blizzard Entertainment has decided to make amends and offer gamers two free Classic Hearthstone card packs. The card packs will only be granted to players on European servers who have had accounts since before May 3.

You can read all about it in the Battle.net blog post, and then keep your fingers crossed while logging in and opening the packs. If you don't feel like booting up the game, there's no worry: the card packs will never expire, so you can take your sweet time.

It's a small but important gesture from the developer, meant to keep its fans happy. Speaking of fans, publisher Activision has recently revealed that Hearthstone surpassed the 30 million registered users mark, making it one of the most successful collectible card games in the world.

The game combines strategic play with chance and a streamlined game design that make it exciting and engaging, while at the same time providing both an accessible experience for newcomers to the genre and a more challenging one for seasoned veterans.

The game draws inspiration from the sprawling Warcraft universe, and contains many humorous and inane references, a classic Blizzard hallmark.
