The launch of the Conquest of Paradise expansion for Europa Universalis IV means that the development team at Paradox Interactive is also delivering a major patch for its grand strategy experience, designed to fix a long list of issues that the community has reported.

The update also adds quite a few new features for free, allowing gamers to work with a new Protectorate diplomatic concept, with a new cocoa resource and a number of map modes that make getting info easier than ever.

Europa Universalis IV now also has a reworked climate system and the entire process of Westernization has been redone to make it more interesting for underdeveloped nations.

A full list of all the changes made, and there are quite a few of them, is offered on the official forums.

Patch 1.4 for EU IV sounds great, but core fans of the franchise will also get the Conquest of Paradise expansion, with its randomized new continents and expanded diplomatic and warfare options.
