The Bureau: XCOM Declassified was officially revealed to the public late last week, after a period of teasing, and the development team at 2K Marin is now working to explain the actual place of the game in the science-fiction universe.

Alyssa Finley, a vice president at 2K Marin working on The Bureau, tells Shacknews that “Both Enemy Unknown and our game absolutely live in the same universe. You'll see some of the same weapons, same enemies.”

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified takes place in 1962, which means that fans of the Firaxis developed turn-based strategy will be able to learn a lot more about the alien infiltration and how Earth responded to it so far.

The Bureau will use squad-based third-person mechanics.

The new XCOM title will be launched in late August on home consoles and the PC.
