Andrei Dumitrescu: I am preparing for one last trip to the seaside, joining a few friends of mine in exploring the early fall while celebrating the fact that one of us is getting older but apparently wiser.

I like my friends and I am mostly ready to abandon video games in order to spend time with them, but this week they really face tough competition from Total War: Rome II, the new strategy title from developer The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA.

I plan to spend a big 6-hour session with the game from midnight to six o’clock before jumping into a car in order to be driven to the seaside while dreaming of my exploits as the Carthaginians.

The team takes the game back to Antiquity and the move is very smart because it gives gamers space to explore their alternative historical scenarios while also creating a space where interesting new mechanics can be easily inserted.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend, I won't have that many games on my plate, especially since I have already completed everything there is to do in Saints Row 4. As such, I'll probably revisit some recent favorites, like Payday 2, as I've been falling behind on my daily quota of robberies.

Being occupied with Saints Row means that my characters have fallen behind in terms of level, but I'm confident there will be plenty of robbers eager to have me on their team.

When I am not planning heists in and around the Washington DC area, I'll probably jump a bit more into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, as I've recently rekindled my passion for the online first-person shooter and I must say I'm quite good at it.

Last but not least, I'll probably jump a bit into Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, as I've recently gotten my DualShock 3 controller to work on the PC and I'm eager to try it out in the kart racing game from Sega.
