Playing Need for Speed: Rivals, XCOM: Enemy Within and CK II: Sons of Abraham

Andrei Dumitrescu: Just when I think that I have finally put medieval intrigue and family advancement behind me, the team at Paradox Interactive launches yet another expansion for Crusader Kings II and I admit that, once again, I will dedicate my weekend to the title.

Sons of Abraham is focused on the very important role that religion played during the covered period and allows gamers to interact with a number of characters in new ways, while also finding new mechanics to get access to more Piety or personal power.

There are also numerous new events for Christians, Jewish and Muslim characters and the various heresies have also been expanded in scope, making it harder to keep them under control.

When murdering rivals, my favorite mode of gaining better titles, no longer seems appealing, I plan to return to XCOM: Enemy Within and run through another campaign, this time using Ironman and more of the Second Wave options.

The game feels entirely new and it might easily swallow about 40 or 50 hours of my gaming time once more.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend will be filled with speed, as I'm finally quenching my need for it with Need for Speed: Rivals, the latest game in the long-running racing series from EA.

After the lackluster Most Wanted from last year, I'm quite keen on trying out Rivals, as it promises to be a spiritual successor to the awesome NFS: Hot Pursuit from 2010, which still holds up quite well.

When I am not playing as cops or racers in Rivals, I'll probably go back to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which has gained a new lease on life through the Enemy Within expansion. I'm taking things nice and slow this time around and I have to admit that the new additions make the already impressive game even more amazing and addictive.
