Playing SimCity, God of War, Tomb Raider and The Showdown Effect

Andrei Dumitrescu: I’ve recently bought a new gaming computer, and that means I am currently dredging my back catalogue for graphics-heavy experiences that I want to replay.

First up on my list is Far Cry 3, the shooter from Ubisoft that was declared one of the best games of 2012, which I plan to explore extensively before pushing the story forward in any way.

The game looks gorgeous, and the development team has also managed to refine the mechanics of the series and add interesting little twists, like the crafting system.

When I’m in the mood for something that can be experienced in bite-sized pieces, I will turn to The Showdown Effect, the new title from the team that created Magicka.

The game is fast, engaging, and incredibly fun despite the fact that my skill rarely allows me to be one of the best players in a match.

As long as Electronic Arts manages to get its servers up, I might even end up doing a little building in SimCity.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend will be quite busy for me, but I'll probably find a bit of time to indulge in some games. I have already completed the single-player campaign of both Tomb Raider and God of War: Ascension, so I'm looking forward to jumping into the multiplayer modes of the two titles.

While the Tomb Raider online experience isn't that memorable, the one from God of War: Ascension is very interesting, as not only does it allow you to engage in competitive matches, but also in cooperative ones as part of the Trials of the Gods mode.

When I won't be battling others online, I'll try out a preview build of Anomaly 2, the sequel to Anomaly: Warzone Earth, one of my favorite tower defense (actually offense) titles.

Last but not least, I'll try to complete the current Operation Lodestar in Mass Effect 3.
