Playing Gears of War: Judgment, SS2, Dawn of War, XCOM

Andrei Dumitrescu: BioShock Infinite has been available since Tuesday, but I have been so busy with Gears of War: Judgment that I was unable to dedicate the time I wanted to the newest creation from Ken Levine.

I like the way the leader of Irrational Games approaches video game development and have enjoyed his creations ever since the first System Shock 2, so I am eagerly awaiting two free days to explore the world of Columbia and see how it stacks when compared to that created under the sea in Rapture.

I don’t expect to have much time to play anything else, but if I do, I will go back to the multiplayer side of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution, a game that has an elegance of design that few strategy titles have since matched.

I’m not a great player, but I plan on working to improve my performance with the Chaos Space Marines.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend will be spent with a few different titles, starting with Gears of War: Judgment. After my colleague has finished the game for his review, I want to continue going through the single-player campaign, as well as finish the special Aftermath epilogue that's set during Gears of War 3.

When I am not carving up Locust monsters, I'll be commanding my squad in XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I wasn't really interested in the strategy game when it came out last year but now, since I got it for free with my BioShock Infinite pre-order, I decided to give it a try and I have to admit that the title has really gotten to me.

Sure, I get really annoyed when an alien manages to hit my soldiers despite being in cover and only having a 15% chance to score, but thanks to lots of quick saving, I'm slowly thinning down the ranks of hostile invaders.
