Playing Fall of the Samurai from Shogun 2 and Mass Effect 3

Andrei Dumitrescu: It will not come as a surprise that Mass Effect 3 is still the biggest enemy of my free time, even if I managed to complete the single-player components of the most recent BioWare video game release.

I do have plans to explore some other options in the game and might even try a few separate saves to see how choices in the first and the second game in the series affect the ending, but I plan to spend most of my time playing the multiplayer mode.

Far from being tacked on to the single player, this is a deep, interesting and slightly addictive experience that works very well with friends.

I hope to get at least one other character class up to level 20 and get to the Extraction level using Silver difficulty, without hitting the problems that seems to pop up all the time around level 6 or 7.

When shooting the enemies of humanity gets tiring, I might also take part in some light Japanese Civil War action in the Fall of the Samurai expansion for Shogun 2.

Andrei Dobra: Once again, Mass Effect 3 is set to dominate my weekend, as I’m now testing out my multiplayer skills through online matches at Gold difficulty.

Almost all of my characters are at or near the maximum level 20, meaning they can’t progress any further. Instead of promoting them into the single-player mode, I just want to use their array of powers and try to complete as many gold matches as possible.

It’s going to be hard and a fair amount of luck is definitely necessary, so that I get paired up with squad mates who know what they’re doing, but I’m more than willing to at least give it my best try.

I already have a few great classes for Gold runs, including my Infiltrator or Engineer, so let’s hope everything turns out fine.
