Playing Shadowrun Returns, Civilization V – Brave New World and PCM 2013

Andrei Dumitrescu: The best part of my summer ended last week when the 100th edition of Le Tour de France came to an end, but I am still living the cycling dream by playing Pro Cycling Manager 2013, using some of the unique databases created by the fan groups.

Anyway, I’ve written enough about cycling in my series of Gamer Diaries, so I plan to offer a little more information about the Brave New World expansion for Civilization V, the turn-based strategy title from Firaxis that will probably take up many hours of my life.

The team has managed to once more put together a solid package of features and choices, while once again upping the number of factions available.

The Artificial Intelligence is still kind of dumb when it comes to warfare, but the focus is now more on trade and culture, where the computer is better able to understand the game and compete with a human opponent.

Andrei Dobra: I plan to continue my journey in Shadowrun Returns this weekend and try out some of the very first stories that have been created by those who have already got the game.

The game's original story, Dead Man's Switch, was quite impressive and pretty lengthy but I'm quite eager to see what other Shadowrun players, both hardcore veterans and new fans, can do with the complex editor that's built into the game by the developers at Harebrained Schemes.

Who knows, maybe at some point, I'll create my own little campaign. Until then, however, I want to explore more sides of the universe, which was completely unknown to me up until now.

When I am not running through the shadows in the new title, I'll probably jump into some of the many different games I bought during the recent Steam Summer Getaway Sale, and revisit older titles that got Steam Trading Cards.
