Andrei Dumitrescu: It would be nice for publishers to spread their releases around a bit more over the months of the year, giving sleepy gamers something new and exciting to play with in January and sparing them the torrent of new high profile releases that are coming in March and during the fall of the year.

But the slow January allows gamers a chance to jump into their back catalog and finish those gaming experiences that have long eluded them and are not easily accessible thanks to Steam and its extensive sales.

So I plan to spend this weekend relieving Half Life 2, enjoying some pure first person action pieces as Freeman while slowly remembering where the series is going and hoping that this time around I actually get to finish all the content Valve has released and join the chorus of those who are eagerly asking for more information and a launch date or Half Life 3.

And for those moments when the quiet nature of Freeman is too much, I will return to the boasting of the heroes of Dawn of War II and its Chaos Rising expansion.

Andrei Dobra: The end of this week will be filled with either the hordes of demons from Dragon Age: Origins or the hordes of zombies from Left 4 Dead 2.

I'll be spending quite a lot of time in Dragon Age though, as due to my completionist nature, I still have a lot of places to explore and lots of non-playable characters to meet.

BioWare was extremely sneaky when it made Dragon Age as you can easily lose track of time while exploring its rich world and battling the many enemies that try to stop you.

If my friends will be able to pull me away from the aforementioned game, then I might also indulge in a few cooperative matches of Left 4 Dead 2 with them, and possibly try to increase one another's achievement score by trying out new strategies.

Hopefully, though, we won't be teamed up with any awkward strangers that just want to ruin the whole game for the rest of us.
