Playing PCM 2011, Skyrim, Rochard and The Witcher 2

Andrei Dumitrescu: I seem to remember that Friday the 13th is some sort of unlucky date in most cultures (although Romanian tend to have an issue with Tuesday the Thirteenth, too) so I plan to head straight home tonight, turn off all electronics in order to stop friends from contacting me and read.

Well, that’s the story they’ll hear tomorrow but I will use the time to engage with one of my favorite sports, cycling, in a virtual manner, by playing a heavily modded version of Cyanide’s Pro Cycling Manager 2011.

Since the end of the season in the middle of October I have been in cycling withdrawal, avoiding news about team changes and transfers but now the season is officially starting up again, with the Tour Down Under, and I plan to dive back in.

My favorite mod, created by PCM Daily, is not yet updated to the 2012 version, with new personnel, teams and kits, so I plan to scour the web for other databases that are up to date and play a few test games with the new Leopard Trek Nissan Radioshack team.

Andrei Dobra: After finishing up Rochard for this week’s review, I’m now going to spend the weekend with two sprawling role playing games, in the form of The Witcher 2 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I realized that I never did get a chance to finish the adventures of Geralt of Rivia last year, so I’m now starting over and taking my time with the experience. The traditional video game drought at the beginning of each year should provide me with plenty of time to dedicate to this big RPG.

When I won’t be making my way through the gorgeous RPG from CD Projekt Red, I’ll be tackling another sprawling game, in the form of Bethesda’s Skyrim, which I also neglected throughout the holiday season in favor of smaller games like Bastion or even Saints Row 3.
