Trying to help the Romans survive the Huns

With Total War: Attila now out, I plan on spending quite a bit of my gaming time trying to explore as much of the new experience from The Creative Assembly as possible and I am currently deep in a big campaign with the Eastern half of the Empire, which has a good position but also faces quite a few challenges.

The game is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it is in much better shape than Rome II was when it first appeared, and the studio seems to be working hard to improve it with patching, before the DLC deluge starts.

One thing I have not yet done in Attila is try out the Huns, which many gamers are saying might be the best experience the title has to offer.

So far I am trying to find ways of playing battles that feel historically accurate but also fun and I am enjoying the way the strategic map is influencing the way combat turns out.

Total War: Attila also introduces some interesting details when it comes to family evolution and the lives of the various characters but there are moments when I am playing it and cannot help but wonder how Crusader Kings II, another long-term favorite, would handle the same period of time.
