Playing Sins of a Solar Empire, Shank 2, The Darkness II and A House Divided

Andrei Dumitrescu: Victoria II – A House Divided is my most recent obsession when it comes to gaming.

I plan to spend at least 12 hours this weekend trying to get Japan to Westernize quickly and then beating potential colonial rival United Kingdom into submission before doing something similar to Pearl Harbor about 50 years early.

Victoria II is an impressive game for those who like history and tend to explore potential alternate flows of the XIX century.

But my plan is easier to propose than to implement so I am prepared for quite a bit of failure (I would settle to beat all other powers when it comes to dominating China and the Pacific).

When historical strategy becomes too much to bear, I will switch over to something in many ways simpler, Sins of a Space Empire, a game relying more on big tactical space battles and delivering some truly impressive visuals.

I used to be quite good at Sins and I plan to see how well I can fare both against the computer and a human player.

Andrei Dobra: Last weekend I became pretty enamored with Shank 2 so I neglected every other game I had hoped to play. As such, I now want to make some time for The Darkness II as well as for Alan Wake.

The Darkness II impressed me with its demo earlier this month so I’m more than looking forward to seeing whether its violent gameplay continues to delight me.

I became a bit annoyed by the constant need to shoot out neon lights in the demo. So I hope I won’t be pumping more lead into lights than into my actual enemies.

I didn’t get a chance to experience Alan Wake on the Xbox 360 when it was released back in 2010, so its launch on the PC gives me the perfect reason to experience its interesting gameplay and atmospheric story.
