Playing Skyrim, Renegade Ops, Revenge of the Titans

Andrei Dumitrescu: There is one more day of 2011 to go and, somewhat surprisingly, I might just spend most of it playing video games.

New Year’s Eve is a big reason to party but that means getting enough sleep to last the night and that, in turn, means catching a nap at some point during the afternoon.

To get tired enough I plan to fire up The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim during Friday night and catch up on the last few quests that I need to wrap-up, mainly dealing with the final Dark Brotherhood challenge (one of the most interesting in the game) and with finding an actual Elder Scrolls document that might or might not blind me on contact.

When the world of Skyrim gets enough, I also plan to put some time into Football Manager 2012, once gain taking charge of Liverpool and trying to do better over the holidays than the real world team, which has been disappointing lately.

Andrei Dobra: While I’ll no doubt celebrate the New Year alongside my friends, I’m also going to spend quite a lot of quality time with the variety of games I bought during the holidays, specifically the Steam Winter Sale.

I’ve been spending quite a few nights recently with Renegade Ops, Avalanche Studios’ stunning twin stick shooter, which gets even better if you have a few friends to play cooperatively alongside you. As such, the first days of 2012 will once again see me indulge in this great little title.

I might even give The Binding of Isaac a try, even if its visuals and design is a bit creepy, to say the least. Still, I enjoy its always changing dungeons, so I might brave its dubious nature and help Isaac escape from his torture.

My strategy skills are also going to be put to test with a couple of new games, including Sanctum and Revenge of the Titans, two tower defense titles that both have different takes on the genre. One allows you to experience it from first person view, in the case of Sanctum, and the other has a quirky, albeit sometime annoying, pixelated look, in Revenge of the Titans.
