Playing Sleeping Dogs, Mass Effect 3, Darksiders II and The Political Machine

Andrei Dumitrescu: I have been away last week reporting from the Gamescom 2012 event in Cologne, Germany and when I reached home again on Saturday, I was so tired and fed up with the idea of gaming itself that I spent my own weekend cleansing my brain, reading A Game of Thrones and watching cycling and football to get ready for my return to work.

This coming weekend I plan to jump right back in and play two main games: Sleeping Dogs and The Political Machine 2012.

The first game is the old True Crime, which was canceled and reborn at Square Enix, and it seems to be solid, even if there’s little in the way of originality in the game, from the combat to the racing.

The Political Machine 2012 is more interesting when it comes to the idea, that of simulating a political system, but it has some issues when it comes to the execution.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend I’ll be torn between two very impressive games, in the form of Darksiders II and Sleeping Dogs.

While I already completed Darksiders 2, I’m now going through its New Game+ mode that basically restarts the story with all my gear and abilities intact. While things are definitely much easier, I now intend to truly dedicate myself to the game and explore every nook and cranny for collectibles and loot.

When I won’t be traveling through fantasy realms, I’m going to visit modern day Hong Kong in Sleeping Dogs. I’ve looked forward to the game for quite some time and I want to see if UFG and Square Enix have managed to create a compelling open-world experience.

Besides these two big titles, I’ll also sneak in some Mass Effect 3 multiplayer matches, as I want to participate in this weekend’s Operation Alloy and promote some of my characters.
