Playing Eador, Victoria II, Riptide and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Andrei Dumitrescu: I like to play strategy-focused titles when I can and at the moment, that means spending time with Eador – Master of the Broken World, an interesting game that unfortunately requires quite a bit of time in order to reveal its secrets.

I will also play the Heart of Darkness expansion for Victoria II in order to try to get the best performance out of my Prussian forces, which means forming the German Empire and maybe taking some land away from the French before instigating an interesting World War.

The mechanics added by the development team make the grand-strategy experience tougher than ever and I have often found myself on the losing end of a war that involved three or four Great Powers.

If I have any more time left, I also plan to take out some undead in Dead Island: Riptide, a game that could have delivered a better experience than it did.

Andrei Dobra: I'll completely immerse myself this weekend in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the upcoming standalone expansion of the original Far Cry 3.

While I loved the first experience and its realistic graphics, the new Blood Dragon is looking like a complete departure in terms of story and visuals, as it channels the kitschy sci-fi movies of the 1980s.

Players take control of Rex Power Colt, voiced by famous action movie hero Michael Biehn, a cyber-soldier who needs to stop an evil general and his army of cyborgs from taking over the world, while also fighting giant blood dragons, which are basically huge and very powerful dinosaurs.

The whole game looks extremely impressive, at least judging by previously released videos, so I'm looking forward to actually trying it out and seeing just how much of the first Far Cry 3 is in the new title.
