Playing Legend of Grimrock, Tribesc, Trials and Diablo III

Andrei Dumitrescu: I might finally be ready to break my daily Mass Effect 3 habit, even if I plan to keep returning to the multiplayer side of the BioWare-made game regularly in order to see what kind of new experience the developers introduce.

The main guilty party is another experience that is played online and in the company of other gamers, Tribes: Ascend, a free-to-play title created by Hi-Rez Studios.

The game is fast and furious and I tend to die a lot, but I am getting the hang of jumping around using a jetpack and skiing down slopes at speed. I am really enjoying the experience, despite my tendency to fail and be a drag on my team’s performance.

The other game I will spend time with during the weekend is Legend of Grimrock, a very old school role-playing title that can be punishing and delighting in equal measures, especially when in-game experiences are shared with friends and co-workers.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend might finally see me spend some less time with Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode, as I want to play Trials Evolution on the Xbox 360 and try out the Diablo III open beta stage that’s currently taking place.

I first experienced Trials many years ago when it was still a browser game, and Trials Evolution manages to retain the classic experience, while adding all sorts of extra features and elements, not to mention plenty of customization mechanics.

Besides doing all sorts of tricks in Trials, I also want to give Diablo III a try during the open beta that’s currently being held by Blizzard all over the world. I already saw the beta in action earlier this year, when my colleague played it, and I wasn’t that impressed, so I’ll take advantage of this beta to decide if I’ll buy it or skip it when it actually appears next month.

Even so, I’ll still get to play a few Mass Effect 3 multiplayer matches, as there are still some weapons and items that I have yet to upgrade completely.
