Despite no confirmation of the rumors that the entire EA Partners label of Electronic Arts has been closed down, the publisher says that it has been forced to let a number of employees go in order to restructure some elements of its business.

An official statement from Electronic Arts reads, “In recent weeks, EA has aligned all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile.”

It adds, “These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us.”

It seems that the Vancouver studio of PopCap has been hardest hit, alongside Quicklime.

Other casual games and mobile teams are also affected.

The company wants to focus on mobile and new technologies in the coming years.
