Frank Gibeau, one of the leaders of publisher Electronic Arts, says that Disney is one of the companies that know how to take an intellectual property and then create content for it using a variety of media channels.

He is quoted by VG247 as stating, “They do a spectacular job of acquiring world-class intellectual property and then – ‘exploiting’ is probably the wrong word – bringing it to market across multiple channels in an appropriate way for each.”

EA is at the moment collaborating with Disney on the creation of Star Wars-based video games.

Battlefront is at the moment in the early stages of the development process at DICE and BioWare and Visceral are also set to deliver their own takes on the popular science fiction universe.

Disney is also working on three new movies and potentially a television series based on Star Wars.
