Gamers can choose what kind of Garrett they want to be

Stephen Gallagher, the narrative director working on Thief, says that the story that his team has created for the reboot is entirely linear, but at the same time, gamers will have plenty of options to make choices that affect main character Garrett.

The developer tells VG247 that, “It’s a single arc where Garrett sets himself up – ‘I do not kill without good reason’ – and the arc kind of follows that in a way. But in the end you buy the game, it’s your game.”

Gallagher makes it clear that the entire game can be played non-lethally, with players using stealth in order to take out enemies undetected.

At the same time, those who want to kill opponents or even innocents are free to do so as long as they can deal with the consequences.

Thief will be launched in late February 2014 on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and current-gen devices.
