Owen O’Brien, the former DICE developer who is now working at CCP, says that creating the new virtual reality powered EVE Valkyrie is an exciting project that shows how gaming might look in a few years.

The developer tells Gamasutra that, “It's very exciting and inspirational, and to feel like you're breaking new ground all the time is great. It's what I'm in games for. That's really what motivates me. I feel like I'm looking at the future.”

EVE Valkyrie is designed to use the universe of the MMO to power a space-simulation title that puts the player in the cockpit and allows him to look around using movements of his head.

O’Brien believes that any kind of game that aims to use the Oculus Rift needs to be intuitive, which might be a barrier for some genres.

EVE Valkyrie does not yet have an official launch date or a defined set of platforms.
