The actress is taking on the role of Ran, the leader of the Valkyries fighter pilots

CCP Games, famous makers of the even more famous massively multiplayer online space exploitation game EVE Online, have just announced that Katee Sackhoff will play the starring role in the the upcoming virtual reality enabled game, EVE: Valkyrie.

EVE: Valkyrie is a multiplayer space combat simulator that's set in the EVE universe, currently in development and intended to be used in conjunction with the Oculus Rift on PC and the Project Morpheus headset on the PlayStation 4.

The game uses virtual reality technology in order to offer its players a more immersive experience, the feeling that they are an actual pilot in an EVE space fighter.

"The first time I played EVE: Valkyrie I immediately knew I had to be a part of it. Even with the roles I have played, it is the closest I have ever felt to being a real spaceship pilot. It is a truly transformative video game experience," Sackhoff said.

The actress has been featured in some of the biggest sci-fi entertainment franchises, with roles in Battlestar Galactica, Riddick and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Katee Sackhoff will play the role of the leader of the Valkyries fighter pilots in EVE Online's New Eden universe.

"Katee is the perfect actor to bring Ran to life. Not only does she have a track record in bringing strong female characters to life, but also once she had played Valkyrie I was delighted to see that she was as excited and enthused about the project as we are," added Owen O'Brien, executive producer for EVE: Valkyrie at CCP.
