Arnar Gylfason, also known as CCP Zulu, has announced that he is stepping down as a senior producer of the MMO EVE Online and that he will focus in the future on creating a better organization inside the development team working on the game.

His role will now be filled by Jon Lander, known as CCP Unifex, who has lead the Carbon development team since 2009.

Gylfason has issued a statement on the official website of EVE Online telling players that the last 18 months of the game were tense and that some of the changes made by the development team taught the developers “harsh lessons”.

Lander says that in the coming months the developer team at CCP, which at the moment numbers close to 200 people, will focus on developing the core mechanics of the game.

CCP also plans to put all the character names and the images of players who have an active account on December 31 of the year in order to put them in a capsule called the EVE Pod and launch them into space via high altitude balloon.
