The team at the Paradox Development Studios is delivering a new developer diary for fans of Europa Universalis IV that shows how the new native advancements mechanic will make tribes on the American continent more interesting to play in the Conquest of Paradise expansion.

The team explains that they represent for the Native Americans “their own tech progression, sort of in between the regular technology steps. First of all, we added the concept of native advancements. These are sort of like technologies or national ideas that are connected to a specific government type.”

Examples offered include: migration traditions, which reduce costs for buildings, tribal adoptions, increasing army size, and smoke ceremonies, designed to offer more diplomatic reputations.

The Conquest of Paradise content will allow players to create a random version of the Americas that will make their discovery and colonization a more interesting experience.

The company plans to launch the expansion in January 2014.
