Patrick Soderlund, one of the executive vice presidents of Electronic Arts, says that the fan reaction to Titanfall shows how important innovation is to his company and to any future video games that it will publish.

He tells MCV that, “That response is telling us that gamers don’t want to play the same game every year, and even the games we build on an iterative basis, we have to make sure we keep on innovating or people won’t give us their money.”

Titanfall is being created by Respawn Entertainment, a studio formed by a number of veterans of the first-person shooter genre.

The game is designed to explore the vertical dimension of the various maps and will allow on-foot soldiers to battle mechs that are dropped in the multiplayer fights at certain times.

Titanfall is set to launch on the PC, the Xbox One and the 360 in the first half of 2014.
