Battlefield 4 is already shaping up to be one of the biggest launches of the year and the first-person shooter from DICE is not even available on the United States market at the moment.

Publisher Electronic Arts has previously suggested that the franchise might become an annual release, but refused to offer any info on the subject during its recent investor call.

Patrick Soderlund, the leader of the publishing division, is quoted by VG247 as saying that developer DICE needs time to recover after the complex development cycle.

Andrew Wilson, the CEO, adds that the Swedish company needs to enjoy the launch period.

He also suggests that if no Battlefield is launched next year, the company will fill the void with UFC and NBA Live.

DICE has already announced that the first piece of downloadable content for Battlefield 4, called China Rising, is set to be launched for Premium service subscribers on December 3.
