The studio is not yet saying whether a patch is being deployed

Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that the multiplayer component of Battlefield 4 might be affected all throughout today, August 5, on all platforms because of maintenance.

The official Twitter account of the franchise apologizes for the lack of connection that some gamers might experience, but the most troubling element is that the company is not able to offer a clear timeframe for when the maintenance will be performed.

Traditionally, the developers working on Battlefield 4 give gamers clear information in order to keep the entire community happy.

It’s also unclear whether DICE is deploying a patch for the title today or if the maintenance is related to something else.

At the moment, the companies are running Battlefest, a month of events designed to thank gamers for their long-term support.

The studio is working on one final piece of downloadable content for the first-person shooter, which was supposed to be launched before the end of summer but will not probably be offered in the fall.

The next big title in the franchise, Battlefield Hardline, was set to arrive in late October but has been pushed back to early 2015 in order to give the team more time to improve the core single- and multiplayer experiences.
