E3 2014 is a battleground where a variety of companies, both big and small, are fighting over the attention of those who attend the show and the best way to get someone interested is to have a great layout for the booth, blaring music and a great mascot.

As I traveled the show floor moving from appointment to appointment, I managed to snap a few images of some of the most interesting visual elements that grabbed my attention.

One of the areas that should be getting more visibility and greater traffic is the Indie Cade, which does a superb job of showing off smaller titles.

I also took a look at an expo of classic video game systems and I spent about 10 minutes watching two pretty skilled players engaged with one of the old Mortal Kombat 4 machines.

The second day of the show can sometimes feel interminable, a never ending carousel of meetings and game demos, but getting out on the floor and simply looking around is a good way of restoring some energy before jumping right back into the wonderful world of video games.
