Admittedly, the game might not be the best to showcase PS4's potential

Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends is among the first wave of PlayStation 3 / PlayStation 4 crossover games to be released in Japan, and a video showing the two versions side by side has already surfaced on YouTube.

The PlayStation 4 version benefits from greatly improved lighting capabilities, complete with dynamic shadows. It also features more detailed character models and enhanced textures that sometimes seem entirely different from the PlayStation 3 version.

While the two versions show visible differences, the PlayStation 4 one being unquestionably better, they do not quite manage to illustrate the expected generation gap between the two consoles.

One reason for this might be the actual game used for the comparison, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, a game that is more about having countless enemies on the battlefield than impressing with stunningly rendered visuals.

Whatever the case, Nobunaga's Ambition: Creation Producer Kenichi Ogasawara has revealed that much better results can be achieved by developing for the PlayStation 4 from the beginning, citing how much work had to be put into the game for it to achieve 30 fps on the PS3, while the PS4 version ran at 60 fps from the beginning.

That surely means that the power of the console has not yet been tapped, and that perhaps Dynasty Warriors 9 will better see what the new console can add to the renowned franchise.
