Great news for fans of hacking and slashing countless armies of peasants and the occasional officer, as Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 systems in Japan, this year.

The news comes from Japanese video games magazine Famitsu, telling that players will be able to employ enhanced Stratagems in their journeys to fame and eternal consecration in the annals of history, giving orders to other military commanders when you reach a higher position in the hierarchy.

Similar to the previous game, Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires allows players to get married and have children, in addition to being able to personalize their flags, soldiers and horses, as Gematsu informs.

The announcement notes that at least one new military commander has been added, but it does not specify which one, presumably to encourage speculation and build hype within the community.

Tecmo Koei has also revealed that there will be two demos available to play prior to the release of the full game, titled Edit and Cooperative, and if the names are any indication, the first will probably feature customization options, while the other will cast a revealing light on the multiplayer mode.

Following the release of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition all around the world, it's likely that Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will also benefit from the same treatment, and will also end up on PS3 and PS4 systems outside Japan.
