Developer Techland has released the opening cinematic for the upcoming first-person zombie survival title Dying Light, setting the scene for the adventure.

The game takes place in the fictional metropolis of Harran, following the outbreak of a virus that turns people into mindless killing machines.

As any respectable zombie apocalypse game, the title features a ton of sneaking around, crafting and, evidently, undead fiend slaying.

Techland's previous experience includes Dead Island, and they decided to keep and expand the robust melee combat system featured there, and spice things up with some neat parkour-style navigation of the sprawling urban environments.

The opening cinematic video reveals the basic premise of the game in a brief manner, talking about an unknown pathogen, about how a quarantine wall was erected around an area of the city of Harran, and about how government supply drops are fueling the survival of the few who remained uninfected.

During the adventure, you will play the role of an undercover operative sent to investigate the quarantine area, and you will embark on a series of missions, scavenging for supply drops, rescuing survivors, and infiltrating the local power structures.

Dying Light is coming to Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at the end of January 2015.
