Mike Laidlaw, the creative director working on the Dragon Age : Inquisition, says that his team is currently introducing a number of skills to the core structure of the game that are not linked to combat.

Starting with the first title in the series, gamers have asked BioWare to enhance the game world by allowing players to invest in abilities that have peaceful uses.

The developer talked about character interactions in Inquisition and how certain skills, like solid knowledge of the local power structure, can allow a character to extract more information from a source or persuade an opponent to act in a certain way.

Overall, BioWare wants to keep the approach to skill development closer to that seen in Dragon Age 2 rather than the one seen in Origins.

The new game will be launched in 2014 on the PC, current and next-gen consoles.
