Sony has just confirmed that the new PS4 system software update 1.71 is rolling out as we speak worldwide, bringing improved stability for the console's operating system and its different features. Those that want to ensure that they'll get it as soon as possible are reminded to activate their automatic download feature.

The PlayStation 4 was released back in November of last year and Sony has since made sure to augment the capabilities of its console through different updates and new firmware versions. These things brought forth enhancements to existing features, like the Share function, as well as support for all-new things, like the ShareFactory video editor that was a part of firmware update 1.70.

Now, after a few weeks since the last system software release, Sony has confirmed on Twitter that a brand new firmware update is being rolled out as we speak.

"PS4 system software update 1.71 coming soon, will improve software stability of some features. Reminder: Activate your automatic download," the company said.

As always, no other details were given so it's unclear just what issues have been fixed and what sort of problems were eliminated from the PS4's operating system and its different features.

Expect Sony to detail some of the larger incoming improvements for the PS4 next week, at its E3 2014 press conference on June 9.

The new firmware update is being released onto the PSN as we speak.
