Video game developer Double Fine announces that it has decided to split its old-school adventure game Broken Age into two separate chapters, with the first of them now set to be released via the Early Access program from Steam in January of next year.

Tim Schafer, the leader of the company, tells backers in a letter quoted by Gamasutra that, “Even though we received much more money from our Kickstarter than we, or anybody anticipated, that didn't stop me from getting excited and designing a game so big that it would need even more money.”

He believes that splitting the game will allow his team to get additional revenue while completing the game.

Broken Age, then known only as the old-school adventure project, has managed to raise more than 3.3 million dollars (2.4 million Euro) from Kickstarter.
