The final stage of The International 4 Dota 2 tournament concluded earlier today and Chinese team Newbee has managed to secure the top spot in front of Vicii Gaming, thereby netting the huge top prize of $5 million (around €3.69 million).

Dota 2 is a true global phenomenon, and once again the community behind Valve's hugely successful game has shown its dedication by taking the total prize pool of The International 4 competition to a whopping 10.9 million USD (8 million EUR).

Throughout the last few weeks, the tournament was held in Seattle, and just a few hours ago its grand final concluded in the Key Arena in front of thousands of fans at the venue and hundreds of thousands online.

The final pit Newbee against Vicii Gaming, and despite winning the first match in the best of five event, VG was ultimately slain by Newbee in a convincing 3-1 score.

Newbee took home the first place prize of 5 million USD (3.69 million EUR), while VG was "forced" to go home with 1.4 million USD (1 million EUR).

While both finalists were from China, the podium was completed by Evil Geniuses from North America, reveals the official blog.

Expect to hear and see much more Dota 2 in the near future, as Valve is keen to capitalize on the game's popularity and introduce more new things to the MOBA experience.
