Dota 2 has surpassed the 10 million monthly users milestone, according to its own statistics, and now players can support one of its biggest upcoming tournaments, the Dota 2 Asia Championship (DAC) 2015.

Dota 2 is the successor to the original Dota mod that appeared first for the Warcraft 3 real-time strategy game. The mod became so successful that Valve brought in its designer known as Icefrog, and rolled out an overhauled experience made in its Source engine.

Since then, the game's popularity grew and grew, with 2014 being a particularly standout year as the massive The International 4 competition was organized in Seattle with the biggest prize pool ever in the history of eSports.

Now, during the month of December, that popularity reached new heights, as the official website for the game displays that over 10 million unique players experienced Dota 2 last month.

More specifically, 10,123,495 people got to play Valve's multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title in December.

Many of those players are now contributing to a new and quite impressive-looking edition of the Dota 2 Asia Championship tournament. The DAC 2015 takes place in Shanghai in February and the official compendium can already be purchased from the Dota 2 store.

Just like with The International 4, there's a progressive reward scheme, which unlocks new goodies depending on how much money players contribute to the prize pool.
