A brand new Dota 2 phishing scam has just appeared online, this time targeting gullible players by promising them free keys for certain item cases as well as Arcana loot if they offer their username and password for the Yahoo service.

Phishing is a common online scamming technique and all sorts of nefarious individuals are targeting people online with promises of different rewards or prizes in exchange for just a few crucial bits of personal information.

Now, Dota 2 players need to be on the lookout for another scam that's currently available online, which promises them free keys for different Dota 2 cases, not to mention free Arcana items for heroes like Lina, Legion Commander, or Terrorblade.

In order to get all these items, people have to hand over their usernames and passwords for their Yahoo accounts.

If you introduce something and go on to claim your prizes, a message will appear, saying that the scammers will get back to you with the promised loot.

As Malwarebytes notes, such a thing isn't going to happen, as most probably the nefarious individuals are thrilled that they've gotten their hands on more personal data.

Don't forget, unless you're dealing with Valve directly, don't expect to receive free loot or gear for Dota 2.
