14 DAY TRIAL // The team at publisher Nintendo is confirming that its upcoming Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will allow fans of the franchise to play as Cranky Kong, the old and bitter member of the gang, when the title is launched on the Wii U, on February 21 of 2014.
The announcement came from Reggie Fils-Aime, the leader of the Nintendo of America division of the company, on stage at the VGX Awards, according to VG247.
The core gameplay mechanic for Cranky Kong will see the character move past obstacles in the game by using his cane, similar to the way Scrooge McDuck did in the older Duck Tales.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is one of the titles that Nintendo hopes will give the Wii U a much-needed boost in terms of sales, so it can reach its 9 million units target for March 31, 2014.
