Developer Klei Entertainment has released a prototype multiplayer trailer for its hit survival game Don't Starve, showing how the feature might play out when it's released, sometime in the future.

Klei emphasizes on the fact that for now, all the footage is more along the lines of a sketchboard than actual set in stone mechanics, as the studio is still fleshing out ideas and much of Don't Starve's mechanics still have to be adjusted a lot in order to accommodate the addition of multiplayer.

The ghost mechanic showcased in the video will play a big part in the upcoming multipayer add-on, allowing players to haunt the physical world if they get killed or starve. Ghost will have a more limited array of interactions with the environment, but they will still be able to set things on fire and perform other such actions.

In addition to this, players will be also be able to take residence within meat effigies found across the land, in order to reincarnate and return to the physical world.

The addition of the ghost part of gameplay sounds like a nice touch, as permanent deaths seem like a pretty un-fun idea in multiplayer.
