Divinity: Original Sin, the latest installment in the cult series, has opened its gates to its Kickstarter backers. The fantasy role-playing game is currently in its alpha state, but a stable playable version is ready for players to enjoy.

In order to get a hold of the Steam keys, backers of Divinity: Original Sin need to register or sign into the Larian Vault, enter the email address they used to back the game and then visit the Kickstarter tab; the key will be patiently waiting there.

The developers have stated that the alpha so far includes around 15 to 20 percent of the full game, translating into around 10-15 hours of content. Most of the starting city of Cyseal is present, as well as some of the dungeons around the city.

Larian Studios have announced that while the alpha will initially be single-player only, they intend to add cooperative multiplayer later on.

Larian Studios have also put together a nice 40-minute introductive video showing their backers what awaits them and non-backers what they are missing out on, available here.

Divinity: Original Sin is scheduled for a February 2014 release.
