The development team at Arkane Studios says that when it started creating last year’s Dishonored, the game world was supposed to be based on Medieval Japan, but its structure evolved as the process progressed.

During a talk at the Game Developers Conference, Sebastian Mitton, the art director at the company, outlined the overall design process, showing how his team used a wide range of art of historical information to create the structure of Dunwall.

According to PCGameN, he told the audience that, “It’s not just going into a location and making photographs of textures. It’s to feel the city. To feel the location and the people.”

Dishonored has managed to create a sense of place and has delivered an interesting blend of stealth and action.

The game is set to get DLC later in the year, called Knife of Dunwall.
