Yui Tanimura, the director working at From Software, says that his team wants to give players more freedom in the upcoming Dark Souls 2 so that they can explore the game world in any order they want.

He tells Digital Spy that, “We realise in Dark Souls 1 there were some certain orders, like ringing the bells or going to Anor Londo, which is not necessarily a bad thing.”

He adds, “In Dark Souls 2, we're hoping we can provide more freedom so things don't have to necessarily be done in a certain order.”

Tanimura also says that the final stages of the game offer a lot of freedom, with gamers able to focus on their own choices rather than follow a recipe for success.

Dark Souls 2 will be launched in March 2014 and will be offered on current-gen consoles.
