Warren Spector, the creator of such video games as Epic Mickey and Deus Ex, says that the increase in sales of digitally distributed video games should raise a number of concerns about the nature of ownership.

He tells Gamespot that, “I worry a lot about not owning things I’ve paid for. I suppose if the cost came down, way down, I might worry about it less. But it’s a huge concern.”

He admits that the market for digital content delivery, both in the video game and the entertainment sectors, is at the moment so big that its development will not stop because of such philosophical questions.

On the PC, a majority of games sales are delivered via platforms like Steam, Origin, uPlay or GamersGate.

Microsoft and Sony have also promised more digital content for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
