The Xbox One version of Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will run at 1080p after applying the day-one patch, developer Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed.

The patch boosts the Xbox One's edition of the title's resolution from 900p to 1080p, catching up to the PlayStation 4 version of the action role-playing game. Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition runs at 60 frames per second on both next-gen platforms, reaching the golden ratio of PR and putting all fanboys to rest.

"The game will be available [in] 1080p on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Native 1080p resolution. You will need to download the day-one patch for the Xbox One to get that support, but it will be there. We're very happy about that," Blizzard Associate Producer Tiffany Wat tells GameSpot.

The news is surprising but well received, as Blizzard's devs have announced that the game will run in 900p on the Xbox One at launch, and will get to 1080p further down the road.

The devs were hoping to achieve this via the Xbox One June SDK update, that boosted the console's GPU power by removing the 10 percent lock that was enforced by the presence of the Kinect peripheral, and it seems to have worked.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is scheduled to launch on August 19, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms, adding the Reaper of Souls expansion to the game and delivering it to next-gen consoles for the first time.
