Ninja Theory has revealed a brand new game headed for the PlayStation 4 first, titled Hellblade, an independently published video game that looks and feels AAA, but has a smaller scope.

The developer previously worked on projects such as Devil May Cry, with Capcom, Enslaved, with Bandai Namco, and Heavenly Sword with Sony.

The game will be smaller, lower priced and delivered independently, according to the devs, but it will have the same polish, the same graphical quality and art style that the studio graced its previous projects with.

The trailer revealed yesterday, during Sony's press conference event at Gamescom 2014, shows off a character from the game and presumably the kind of dark atmosphere and the art direction that the team is going for.

Hellblade is based on Celtic mythology, and follows Senua, the game's protagonist, as she embarks on a daunting journey through the underworld.

Sony has confirmed the fact that Hellblade will not be exclusive to the PlayStation 4, but that it will appear on that platform first, later in its presentation.

For the time being, there are no details on the game and neither Sony nor Ninja Theory has issued any prospective launch window for the upcoming title, but they have mentioned that it will be a digital only game.
